What is the weapon and how does it work?
The weapon is a tank or as it was sometimes called back then, the land ship. It works when a crew of 4-10 men work to shoot with artillery or steering the tank. The tanks in WW1 had a crew of around 10 men. It is used in battles or wars. When and were was this weapon invented? 1487. It was finally produced by the British in June 1916. What was the overall impact of this weapon in WW1?
The tank took out a lot of men in the war but it also gave the idea of tanks to other countries too. Today almost every country has their own design and build of a tank. Tanks were sent out in the third battle of ypres but were not a help because most of them sank or got stuck because of swampy conditions. Effect of the tank on the soldiers? The tanks killed many and captured many enemy soldiers. Many soldiers would get the opportunity to control inside the tank. The effect on leaders of the warring nations and the decisions they made? After the British started using the tanks, the Germans started to make tanks too. Eventually they put their tanks on the field. By April 1917 the French sent out 128 tanks. Two major British leaders that helped in the making of the tanks were Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George. The effect on the civilians near the front lines? The civilians homes and property were destroyed. As you can tell in some of the photos, the homes and fields are all destroyed in the background. This battle is located in the united kingdom. It started on November 20, 1917. There's also a museum for the battle of Cambrai. In this battle there were 10,000 German prisoners captured and 123 guns, and 281 machines. The tanks played a huge role in this battle mainly because it was a big success at helping fight the Germans. At the battle of Cambrai there was an approximate total of 474 tanks deployed by the British.
